The physician is primarily responsible for providing ophthalmological care to veterans both clinically and surgically. They will also be responsible for resident supervision per VA guidelines and for staffing Ophthalmology clinics. Physicians must attend staff meetings and participate on committees assigned. Physicians will be responsible for timely medical records, including computer order/entry and support Section Chief, Chief, Surgical Service and TVHS in obtaining Performance Measures.
Job Responsibilities
Physician is responsible for completing all VA mandatory and assigned educational trainings.
Physician will function as a physician surgeon in the ophthalmology clinic and operating room.
Meets the needs of all customers while supporting the Medical Center and Service missions.
Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Provides the customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Provides care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients being serviced, and which is appropriate to the cognitive; emotional, and chronological maturation of the patient.
Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course
