Responsibilities
Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a highly skilled and highly motivated Optometrist to join our comprehensive eye care team. Virginia Mason is a healthcare leader in Seattle and offers patients a comprehensive group practice eye care service available in five different locations. You will have the benefit of working in a large, diverse group practice in a regional clinic setting that attracts patients from all over the Pacific Northwest. There will be no shortage of challenging and interesting patient experiences.
Optometrists at Virginia Mason are experts in providing primary vision care including comprehensive vision testing, diagnostics, emergency care, and disease management. Our Ophthalmologists are always available for consultation and referrals. In fact, their primary referral source will be you! This is a full-time position located in our Downtown Seattle location.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of Optometry
- Residency training preferred
- 3+ years’ experience working in a group practice is preferred. Preferably with Ophthalmologists and exposure to medically complex patient population
- Ability to obtain a professional optometrist license in the state of Washington required
- NBEO, The National Board of Examiners of Optometry, required.
- Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Excellent computer skills are highly preferred. Familiarity with eye care software is preferred.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new procedures, processes and policies
- Ability to thrive in a busy group practice
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible with busy, urgent practice needs
- Proficiency in general contact lens fittings, including RGP's, highly preferred
Team Details
You will be joining a strong team of eye care professionals which includes 7 Optometrists who are dedicated to learning and growing. Several of our team members were recently named Top Doctors by Seattle Magazine. We have a team of 40 technicians and support staff across the organization who are highly skilled through continuous training options. You will also work alongside 9 Ophthalmologists working in a wide range of subspecialties including retina, cornea, glaucoma, pediatric/adult strabismus, and dry eye.

Pay Range
$59.41 - $77.23 /hour
