COMPANY PROFILE:
Having opened its first office more than 20 years ago, this organization is now the largest physician-led outpatient medical practice in the greater NYC metro area. In addition to robust primary care offerings, they also operate specialty service lines in cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, allergy and immunology, dermatology, and more. Their large staff of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are supported by dedicated team members, utilizing resources such as on-site laboratory services.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This is an excellent opportunity for an ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in surgical retina to provide high-quality ophthalmology services including, but not limited to, diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and health maintenance.
Specific duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for a variety of vitro-retinal conditions
- treat retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, etc.
- review patient histories
- perform retinal examinations
- order / interpret tests (OCT, photos, fluorescein angiograms, etc.)
- evaluate, diagnose, and provide appropriate treatment and patient care
- recommend suitable management, including preventive health recommendations and habits
- prescribe medications and formulate ongoing treatment and disease management plans
- collaborate with PCPs and internal / external optometrists and ophthalmologists
- provide relationship-centered care, taking into account psychosocial and physical needs
- communicate effectively with the clinical team to ensure total delivery of quality care
- participate in medical staff educational programs and meetings
The new ophthalmologist will perform office-based procedures and weekly outpatient surgical procedures, including:
- intravitreal injections
- focal and pan-retinal photocoagulation
- laser of retinal tears
- pars plana vitrectomy
- scleral buckling
- epiretinal membrane peeling
- macular hole repair
A variable number of patients per day are seen, based upon provider preference for patient volume and types of appointments scheduled.
All visits are prepped and supported by dedicated clinical assistants.
The practice utilizes the Epic EHR.
REQUIREMENTS:
- New York medical license
- DEA
- Board Certification / Eligibility, Ophthalmology
- Fellowship, Retina
- 1 year experience preferred
