Job Title: Board-Certified Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP)
Location: Department of Veterans Affairs – VA Long Beach Healthcare System.
Position Type: Full-time (0800- 1630 daily Monday to Friday, with an option of compressed schedule of 10-hour shifts/4 days a week, 0700-1730)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Board-Certified Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP) to join our Radiation Oncology team at the VA facility. The CTMP will play a critical role in overseeing all aspects of the Radiation Oncology Physics Program, ensuring the highest standards in patient care, safety, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all physics and dosimetry operations, ensuring a consistent and high-quality Radiation Oncology Physics Program.
- Provide quarterly Quality Assurance (QA) reports for the Quality Assurance Committee and Radiation Safety Committee.
- Conduct and document equipment-related quality assurance, including TLD and credentialing measurements for independent third-party analysis.
- Perform shielding surveys and submit reports as required by the National VA Health Physics Program (NHPP).
- Ensure that all licenses for linear accelerator equipment and software applications are current.
- Develop, implement, and periodically review policies and procedures for Quality Management Program (QMP) related to radiotherapy equipment.
- Oversee the technical activities of physicists, dosimetrists, and other team members, ensuring effective communication and continuity in medical physics operations.
- Implement new techniques or procedures in the facility by conducting literature reviews, developing standard procedures, and training staff.
- Report and manage adverse events through the Radiotherapy Incident Reporting & Analysis System (RIRAS).
Qualifications:
- Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
- Licensure: Maintain licensure with the Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists (if applicable).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of post-board certification experience.
- At least 3 years of continuous experience in the last 5 years in a similar role.
- Education: Ph.D. in Medical Physics or related field.
- Strong expertise in radiation therapy equipment, quality assurance processes, and compliance with regulatory standards.
