Location: Eastern Iowa, the unique city center for arts and culture in the Quad Cities. Facility: Medical center providing specialized care for cancer patients. They offer a range of services, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and support for various types of cancer. The center focuses on comprehensive, patient-centered care, combining advanced medical treatments with support services to help patients manage both the physical and emotional aspects of their treatment.

Opportunity:
  • Full-time: 40 hours per week.
  • On-call schedule/ratio: 1:2.
  • No weekend schedule.

  • Provide safe therapeutic radiological physics to the Radiation Oncology Department
  • Ensure equipment safety, quality patient care, and participate in teaching in accordance with regulatory agencies and medical community standards. Genesis offers SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gaiting, SGRT, and 3D Conformal.

  • Cancer Institute employs 2 linear accelerators: TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam. Record and verify performed through Aria. Eclipse and Tomoplan software used for planning.
  • Along with participating in treatment procedures, the Medical Physicist will participate in patient-specific QA, chart QA, linear accelerator QA, plan checks, and any additional support needed by our Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists and therapists.
  • Team includes 2 Physicists, 2 Dosimetrists, 8 Radiation Therapists, 3 RNs, 2 Office Secretaries, 1 Billing and Coding Coordinator, 1 Social Worker, and 1 Office Manager.
  • On average, approximately 35 patients are treated daily on 2 machines. The team works closely with our colleagues from our growing Medical Oncology group and interdisciplinary team.
  • Working with the Chief of Physics, the successful candidate will have the skills in calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators and other radiation sources, perform quality assurance of equipment and treatment plans, and implementing new technologies as needed.
