Job Title: Oncologist - Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Syracuse, NY
Location: VA Syracuse, NY
Salary: $275k-320/hr
Overview:
The VA Syracuse Healthcare System is seeking two Board Certified General Oncologists to provide comprehensive oncology services to eligible veterans. The selected physicians will deliver high-quality care that meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards, comparable to those found in top civilian medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: Deliver expert oncology care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Evaluate, prioritize, and manage referrals from primary care and other departments for oncology consultations.
- Patient Management: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and order relevant diagnostic tests. Develop and implement treatment plans, coordinating care with primary care providers and other members of the healthcare team.
- Collaborative Care: Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care for patients. Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
- Administrative Duties: Participate in administrative tasks such as peer reviews, ongoing professional practice evaluations, and other assigned duties.
- On-Call Services: Provide on-call coverage as needed to ensure continuous oncology care.
Qualifications:
- Board Certification: Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid medical license in any state or the District of Columbia.
- Certifications: Must have current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent. All necessary continuing education to maintain these certifications must be up to date.
- Experience: Previous experience in providing oncology services in a clinical setting is preferred.
