This organization is a physician-owned medical practice specializing in the care of expectant mothers and newborns. They were founded in 2016 by a small group of neonatologists and have grown to more than 100 providers serving patients in multiple states. Their team of board certified specialists stand by the core ethic that medicine should be the delivery of consistent, continuous care for mothers, babies, and their families. The practice combines a national infrastructure with local support, using their breadth and depth of clinical and operational resources to allow their physicians to spend more time on delivering high-quality care.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The OB physician hospitalist is employed by a private practice contracted by the hospital to provide obstetrics and related services at the medical center. The new physician will be part of a team of clinicians at the assigned site, working together with the support of the Site Director.

The team of physicians make scheduling decisions together, ensuring that there is 100% schedule coverage at the hospital.

The core duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

- deliver obstetrical and gynecological care to patients
- provide contraceptive services
- deliver direct patient care to high-risk patients
- be comfortable in situations where MFM support is only available by telephone
- participate in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
- participate in peer reviews or investigation of clinical incidents as requested
- collaborate with team to ensure hospitalist participation in overall quality initiatives
- ensure daily in-person handoffs between clinicians
- participate daily in labor and delivery board rounds
- participate in clinical drills
- ensure that patient encounters meet the needs of the patient and their family
- ensure timely response to calls and pages
- support community physicians and midwives through clinical assistance
- participate in hospital meetings (department meetings, peer review, quality improvement)
- have active involvement in the daily activities of the labor and delivery unit

The hospital uses an EHR and clinical assistants are available to assist providers in all situations.


REQUIREMENTS:
- Texas medical license
- DEA
- Board Certification or Eligibility, Ob/Gyn
- no experience required
