Locums – Springfield, Missouri, OB/GYN Hospitalist Opening
Clinical Role:
-
- Do you know someone that might be a good fit for this position? Please ask about our generous referral fees!
- 3/3/2025 – Ongoing
- Do not consider ourselves laborists, as some gyn coverage is provided on occasion. It is not fully a true laborist job
- The Generalist OB group will be taking call for their private patients.
- With the decrease in workload for the hospitalist on call, the call shifts will be changed to 12 or 24 hours going forward. With a 7 am/7 pm sign out
- Weekday and weekend coverage:
- Currently have one (10 to 12 shift) Locums that is actively looking to shift back to the St. Louis market as soon as a job becomes available due the distance from home
- We have one current (6-8 shift) locums that is being assessed for long term compatibility
- All shifts will be 12 or 24 hour shifts, 7a - 7p or 7a - 7a
- OBGYN with ABOG Board Certified is a must
- To clarify, the position is a HOSPITALIST position (not call coverage). We still need candidates with primarily weekday/weeknight availability
- Weekend shifts are:
- 6 am to 3 pm
- 2 pm to 11 pm
- 10 pm to 7 am
- Would like to find a full time candidate and a part time candidate, both with weekday availability to do locums work with us starting in March until such a time we no longer need locums coverage. “Full time” candidate would be approx. 144 hours per month with a mix of 12 and 24 hour shifts, depending on scheduling needs
- If desired can do a double shift (16 hours) but we do not schedule 24 hours
- 9 hour shifts in house (2 shifts in a 24 hour period can be requested/accommodated)
- They cover inpatient OB as well as inpatient GYN consults on the floor and in the ER
- There is no outpatient coverage (ie clinic)
- Patients Per Shift: 9 max scheduled cases/day (not including unscheduled patients who are admitted) – 3 cases night shift, 6 cases day shift
- # of RNs: Days average 7-9 floor nurses (plus 1 charge, 2 triage RN’s), Nights average 5-6 floor nurses (plus 1 charge, 2 triage RN’s) – this number drops by about 1-2 nurses on weekend due to lower case-load
- # of MAs: We don’t have MA’s, but we have OB Assistants (3 on days, 2 on nights) and Surgical Technicians (3 on days, 2 on nights)
- # of PA/NPs: 4 midwives that care for patients – collaborate with physicians with increased in level of care situations
- No Call
- EMR: Epic
- Beds in Facility: 12 LDR + 3 Low intervention rooms (midwifery)
- Assigned/Unassigned Patients
- Board Certified – Required
- ACLS, ATLS, BLS – Required
- Trauma Level I, II
