Job Overview: Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician

Location: Morehead, KY
Shift Details:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • 2-3 weeks of M-F coverage per month, including clinic and on-call coverage
  • Clinic hours: Half days (12:30 PM - 4:30 PM)
  • On-call coverage: 24-hour weekdays and weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
    • Full scope OB/GYN practice including consults, deliveries, laparoscopies, hysterectomies, D&Cs, cesarean sections, and cervical cerclages.
    • Average of 20 patients/day.
    • Manage obstetric care (low- and high-risk) and gynecologic conditions.
  • Procedures:
    • Perform common OB/GYN procedures: deliveries, C-sections, laparoscopies, hysterectomies, biopsies, and general surgeries.
    • In-office procedures and diagnostics, including cervical cancer screenings, contraception options (oral and implantable), genetic counseling, hormone replacement therapy, and wellness exams.
  • Patient Population:
    • Adolescents, adults, geriatrics, primarily low-income patients (60% Medicaid).
    • Birth volume: 300 births/year.
    • Must be comfortable with labor and delivery (L&D) care.
  • Support Staff:
    • Work with APPs, midwives, medical assistants, and front desk/admin staff.
  • Call Coverage:
    • Weekday 24-hour call and weekend 24-hour call (average work during call: 1 delivery, 1 ED consult, 3-6 triage).
    • Minimum 1 week/month of coverage, ideally 2-4 weeks/month.

Requirements:

  • Board Certification: BE/BC in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • State License: Must be willing to apply for Kentucky license
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of OB/GYN experience required (3-4 years preferred).
    • Experience with OB/GYN procedures, especially working with low-income populations, highly preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS required.
    • ACLS preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Full scope OB/GYN experience, including L&D and typical OB/GYN procedures.
    • Ability to work in a community clinic setting, providing care to a diverse patient population.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Bill Rate: $230.00/hour
  • Overtime Rate: $340/hour
  • Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 3 months.
  • Holiday Pay: 1.5x normal rate for select holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day).

Additional Details:

  • Call Volume: Expectation is 1 delivery, 1 ED consult, and 3-6 triages per 24-hour call shift.
  • Patient Demographics: Primarily older adolescents and adults from a low-income population (60% Medicaid).
