Job Description: We are seeking a Locum Tenens OB/GYN to provide low-risk call coverage for a small, rural hospital in Ironwood, MI. The OB/GYN will be responsible for 24-hour call coverage, primarily managing low-risk obstetric cases. Coverage is typically required from Friday to Monday, with occasional Thursday coverage as needed.

Call Coverage Details:

• Start Date: January 6, 2025
• Call typically runs Friday-Monday, with occasional Thursday coverage.
• Call shifts begin at 7:00 AM and last for 24 hours.
• OB census is low, with approximately 90 births per year; some weekends may not involve any calls.
• CRNAs are on call to perform epidurals and provide anesthesia for C-sections.
• Focus is on low-risk births; high-risk cases are transferred to higher-level facilities.
• Emergency care provided until patient transfer via helicopter if needed.
• 3 higher-level facilities with NICUs are available within a 120-mile radius for patient transfers.
• No VBACs performed at the facility.
• A pediatrician is on call to support neonatal needs.

Requirements:

• Board-certified or board-eligible in OB/GYN.
• Experience in managing low-risk obstetric cases.
• Ability to respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and stabilize patients for transfer if necessary.
