JOB DESCRIPTION:

Legacy is seeking an OB/GYN physician that is interested in providing medical care related to pregnancy or childbirth and diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases of women, particularly those affecting the reproductive system. May also provide general medical care to women.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Collaborates with providers in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Synthesizes data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Administers medications and injections. Sutures minor lacerations.
  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
  • Notes need to be co-signed by physician.
  • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
  • Manages medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits.
  • Have a working knowledge of ICD9, CPT and HCPCS coding and managed care, and be available for training as necessary.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees/pilot projects as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Follows the Legacy guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the LEGACY Mission.
  • Participates in the Performance Improvement Program

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be licensed in Texas as an MD or DO.
  • Must have active DEA.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency or clinical fellowship in OB/GYN; a current certification in OB/GYN by the ABOG or the AOBOG that indicates passing of the written and oral examinations. In addition, evidence of current competence within the last 12 months to perform privileges requested.
  • Ability to meet Legacy Community Health’s EPIC proficiency requirements.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a hospital and/or clinic setting.
  • Must be proficient with all aspects of EMR.
