Locums – Webster, Texas, OB/GYN Hospitalist Opening Clinical Role:

    • There is a need for an OBGYN Laborist at 7 hospitals
    • Open Date: Please note pink shift is the busier shift
    • 9/20 – 7a-7a green or pink
    • 9/22 – 7a-7p green
    • 9/22 – 7p-7a pink
    • 12 or 24 shifts available. Patient volumes high at three loctions
    • All will work the OBED and take unassigned patients
    • Minimum 5 years of OB experience required

    • GENERAL
    • Availability for consultations on all obstetric Hospital patients in the Emergency Department or any Hospital-Owned Clinic providing care to obstetric Hospital patients, when requested
    • Coordinate transport of acute or critically ill obstetric patients to or from other facilities for appropriate care as necessary
    • Availability to provide surgical assist services to Hospital’s obstetrics/gynecology (“OB/GYN”) physicians
    • Coverage of Hospital’s obstetrical triage unit to provide evaluation of Hospital patients that present with acute symptoms or signs of labor
    • DUTIES
    • Active awareness of all patients on the units (L&D, antepartum, postpartum, or OBED if located outside the L&D unit) and response to emergencies
    • Evaluate all unassigned obstetrical and gynecology patients, regardless of payor source and/or status, who present with unscheduled, problem visits
    • Manage unassigned obstetrical patients from admission to discharge
    • Deliver patients when the assigned community obstetricians/physicians are unable to present to the Hospital in time to attend the delivery (eliminating unattended deliveries)
    • Respond to managing patients in all emergent situations until assigned community obstetrician/physician arrives and assumes care with continued availability, if needed
    • Accept care for patients who are transferred and coordinates transport of acute or critically ill obstetric and/or gynecology patients to or from other facilities for appropriate care as necessary
    • Willing and ready to assume care, deliver and manage MFM patients as clinically indicated
    • To ensure patient safety and quality care, assist assigned community obstetricians/physicians and midwives with complicated deliveries, including TOLAC management
    • Provide consultative support throughout the Hospital when an obstetrical consult is requested
    • Consult for unassigned gynecology patients throughout the Hospital as requested
    • Surgical management of unassigned gynecology patients
    • Partner with nursing staff to ensure operational efficiency in the OBED
    • Engage in departmental quality improvement activities (e.g., advocacy of drills, participation in morbidity and mortality reviews) and assists Hospital with compliance with all accreditation standards (e.g., TJC, CMS) applicable to the department of obstetrics/gynecology
    • Document timely in electronic medical record
    • To ensure patient safety and quality care, First Assist on cesarean sections for assigned community obstetricians/physicians, as safely available
    • Conduct H&P exams on all unassigned patients admitted
    • Assess and evaluate the treatment of prescribing buprenorphine for obstetrical inpatients with opioid use disorders and coordinate care of patient in conjunction with local providers, as appropriate
    • Support Hospital in the coordination and scheduling of cesarean sections and other OB/GYN procedures as appropriate
    • Respond to and participate in obstetric cases requiring activation of massive transfusion protocol (e.g., unresolved hemorrhage)
    • Provide quality customer service to patients, families, and staff, and participate in Hospital initiatives to improve patient experience scores
    • Maintain requisite knowledge and skill to ensure proficiency in fetal heart monitoring, including regular training which shall be required of Physician. National Certification Center (NCC) fetal heart monitoring certification is preferred
    • Coordination of care with local FAQH centers, as applicable

    • Participate in the implementation and improvement of systems to provide excellent service to patients, physicians, and other colleagues and Hospital staff. Participate in the resolution of patient and provider complaints and enhancement of patient and provider satisfaction as measured by periodic satisfaction surveys
    • Be respectful to, and communicate effectively with, the other hospitalist team members at the Hospital, leadership, referring surgeons or nurses, and ancillary staff
    • Participate in Program meetings, email, and/or other communication methods to foster effective working relationships and reduce variation in practice patterns
    • Maintain legible, accurate, complete, and timely medical records with respect to all patients examined or treated in accordance with all legal, accreditation, regulatory and third-party payor requirements
    • Comply with all medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, and Hospital bylaws, rules and regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as such currently exist or are hereinafter amended
    • Participate as a provider of medical services with third-party payors, including, without limitation, any HMO or PPO, with which Hospital contracts
    • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements as well as any accreditation standards related to Hospital and its Program
    • Perform such other services as are reasonably assigned by the Program’s leadership
    • Timely and accurately participate in MACRA/MIPS and other hospitalist-related quality initiatives
