- To clarify, the position is a HOSPITALIST position (not call coverage). It is:
1. 9-hour shifts in-house (2 shifts in a 24-hour period can be requested/accommodated)
2. They cover inpatient OB as well as inpatient GYN consults on the floor and in the ER.
3. There is no outpatient coverage (ie clinic)
Patients per shift: 9 max scheduled cases/day (not including unscheduled patients who are admitted) – 3 cases night shift, 6 cases day shift
Beds in Department: 12 LDR + 3 low intervention rooms (midwifery)
# of RNs: Days average 7-9 floor nurses (plus 1 charge, 2 triage RNs), Nights average 5-6 floor nurses (plus 1 charge, 2 triage RNs) – this number drops by about 1-2 nurses on weekends due to lower case-load
# of MAs: We don’t have MAs, but we have OB Assistants (3 on days, 2 on nights) and Surgical Technicians (3 on days, 2 on nights)
# of PA/NPs: 4 midwives that care for patients – collaborate with physicians with increased in level of care situations
Credentialing Requirement: Complete refer and follow privilege forms at regional facilities (Aurora, Cassville, Lebanon, Mount View, Springfield) during the credentialing process.
