First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is looking to employ three (3) OB/GYNs for practice locations in Sarasota and Venice, Florida. We are located approximately 60 minutes south of Tampa and 1.5 hours north of Ft. Myers on the West Coast of Florida.

Our OB/GYNs see patients in the clinic setting, provide surgical services in the hospital, and collaborate with our employed OB Hospitalist group who provides 24/7 in-house coverage of the OB ECC and any unassigned expectant mothers.

Sarasota Memorial also received level III Maternal Care Verification from the Joint Commission in 2023, in collaboration with the American College of Obstetrics.

  • First group includes six (6) OBGYNs and one APRN.
  • Second group includes four (4) OBGYNs, 1 GYN Only and an APRN.
  • Equitable call in both practices.
  • Provides outpatient services in two clinic locations
  • Both practices are on staff at one hospital – SMH-Sarasota.
  • Mother Baby unit holds 30 beds and Labor & Delivery has 18 spacious suites.
  • 8 bed OB-ECC & triage unit.
  • 3 C-section ORs and a 4-bed PACU with the ability to flex beds.
  • Level III NICU with 33 private rooms.
  • 5 daVinci Xi Robots
  • 24/7 Neonatology and Maternal Fetal Medicine physician coverage.
  • First Physicians Group employs MFMs, Gyn/Oncs and Breast Surgical Oncologists.
  • No OB/GYN Residents at SMH requiring teaching/supervision, but there is an opportunity to teach FSU Medical Students if interested.

SMH-Venice opened in October 2021 and is now doing 35+ deliveries a month. Due to the growth and the needs of the south county community, the hospital added 68 private patient suites to its existing 110 beds, and they are expanding both the Emergency & Surgery Departments. SMH-Venice was designed with the future in mind and plans to more than double in size to 400 beds, 16 surgical suites and a 50-bed ER.

  • MFMs are employed by the group and are available as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified
  • Licensed in Florida and holds a current DEA Certificate
  • Graduate of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN program


Benefits Include:

  • A 2-year employment contract with a generous salary and bonus potential. Physicians transition to a generous pay model after 2 years. Income potential ranges from the high $300s to $600K once practice is established.
