Job Summary
Job Description
To prospective teammates,
I’m one of two medical directors at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA. I have been a part of Sound Medical Group for four years. I’m proud of the hospitalist practice we have built and welcome interest from physicians and coming out of training or desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:
People
- We are a closely knit, established team of 50 physicians and 10 advanced practice providers (APPs), with the support of a clinical performance nurse. We are a very diverse group with a wide breadth of individuals.
- All our physicians are involved in various hospital committees unless they are new in their first six months of practice.
- Many of our providers chose this location due to its proximity to Seattle and the many outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest offers. Some sub-groups love to hike, ski, and other outdoor activities.
- We proudly sponsor H1B and J1 visa candidates, and Sound has excellent in-house visa specialists and our licensing and credentialing experts. All required filing fees for the visa are paid, and services are covered by Sound.
Practice
- We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in a hybrid ICU with intensivist coverage 24 hours a day (our team is not expected to do procedures but does see the occasional DKA patient).
- For those who like to teach, we work with medical students from Pacific Northwest University, residents from East Pierce Family Medicine Residency, and APPs from all over the country.
- Committees are rotated through every six months or at one’s discretion.
- Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out.
- The expected yearly compensation is $288k – $313k.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
