Hospitalist/Nocturnist Locums - AVH Nights - NE New Hampshire
*Requirements: BE/BC, active license, BLC, PALS, and NRP (if Peds)
*IM or FP will be accepted
*Privileges may be granted
*Current shifts needed:
August 1- August 8: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
August 15 - August 22: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
August 29 - September 5: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
*Shift details: 7pm - 7am, rounds with day doc 7 - 7:30am weekdays; round Saturdays & Sundays 2-4 hours, depending on census; 2nd doctor to assist with rounds 3 hours
weekday morning, depending on census, otherwise solo physician
*EMR: Meditech Expanse 6.16, Dragon
*Supported by a strong, collaborative team of MAs, RNs, LPNs, LNA Case Manager, etc.
*10 pts/day in MedSurge on average, <1 pt/day in ICU, 2% child / 98% adult - Leadership my accept provider that does not see Peds, although not ideal.
*EKG interpretation, initial CXE interpretation, intubation, vent management
*ACLS required
*ED runs codes
*5 ICU beds
*Additional support by House Coordinator, Case Management, and On-Call Staff
*Keeps thorough, complete, and timely records
*Educates patients & family about all medical conditions/procedures/options/potential outcomes/prognosis/etc.
*Assists, during periods of high census, other departments as time permits
*Performs common medical procedures as needed: thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, arterial line placement, central line placement, arthrocentesis and joint
injections, incision and drainage of superficial abscess, endotracheal intubation and management of mechanical ventilator, neonatal circumcision, etc.
*Pronounces death in deceased patients and completes thorough, legible, timely Death Certificate
*Documents all patient evaluations and care in clear, accurate, timely, and comprehensive manner as indicated with EMR. Completes all required forms
*Admissions: 2-5 admits/consults per shift
*Inpatient: 8-12 (daily visits or discharge): Observation, inpatient, and SNF/swing status
*Patient mix: Adults only, 85% Medicine, 14% Surgery, 1% Trauma
*Total # Beds: 25
*Total # ICU Beds: 5
*May work in the Emergency Department during period of high volume and/or acuity to assess, work up, and provide initial treatment to ED patients within the scope of practice of adult
Family practice medicine if privileges are granted and provider is interested
*Preferred provider is familiar with Critical Access Hospitals and has 3-5 years of experience working in Critical Access Hospital or rural location.
