Neurohospitalist Locum Need- Oklahoma

Specialty: Boarded in Neurology required/ Vascular Fellowship would be great too

Dates Needed: Mid-late July/Aug 2019 start – ongoing until we can recruit FT – start date depends on how soon we can find someone and get them credentialed.

Shift of Coverage: 7 on/7 off. – typically start Sunday evening at 5p with call

Shift Times: During the week they are on they are on with one other neurohospitalist. Between the two of them they rotate who is “on call” every other day for admits. If on call you must be available 24/7 to respond to a patient in person within 30 minutes, and by phone 15 minutes.

The docs work 24 hr shifts but rotate call days with the other neurohospitalist, essentially this just means they rotate admit days. So if you are not on a call day, you still round on all your patients and are available at night for your own patients, just less likely to get called in since you don’t have admits. I think we need them to be in house for 12 hr and carry pager for other 12 every night.

  1. Duties (call coverage/rounds/etc.): Admit all stroke patients, cover 12 bed Neuro ICU, round/consult for all inpatient neurology. Must be comfortable managing following populations: neurocritical care, general acute neurology, stroke.

Volume of Coverage: average patient census is about 15 patients.
