General Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with neurological disorders, including epilepsy, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases and multiple sclerosis.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as EEGs, EMGs and lumbar punctures.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide emergency care and manage critical situations effectively.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of neurological diseases and disorders, and their diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
- Ability to interpret complex neurological data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in performing and interpreting neurological assessments and procedures.

Minimum Education Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training program in neurology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Fellowship in in a subspecialty of neurology may be required.
License & Certifications:
- Board certification in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Indiana.
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum neurologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
