New long term locum need for Neurologist in Berlin, NH (Open to ANY state license)

Ideally seeking ONE General Neurologist to provide coverage full-time for a long-term locum assignment - with possibility of more in future.

  • 6-12 months +
  • possible option for 3 weeks a month for one physician
  • could possibly consider two physicians to cover total of 4 weeks per month - IF travel costs are low (not first preference)

Schedule:

  • 3-4 days a week at AVH in Berlin NH
  • 1-2 day per week at UCVH in Colebrook NH and/or N Conway outreach site
  • M-F, 8-5 (one hour scheduled lunch 12-1)
  • No call

Provides office-based general neurology services to new and established patients (mostly adults and adolescents) including medication management, education and counseling of patients and families, ordering diagnostic tests, referral to related other specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, pain management, pulmonology, sleep medicine) locally, referral to subspecialty neurologists at tertiary care centers, and communication with PCP’s.

Required:

  • Skills to perform (without a technician) and interpret EMG's.
  • Skills to interpret EEGs
  • Ability to obtain NH perm license quickly (physician must be willing and engaged in completing application, fingerprints, etc ASAP)
  • Full payer enrollment required

Most commonly diagnoses encountered are:

  • Migraine
  • Memory loss
  • Essential tremor
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Dizziness
  • Epilepsy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Polyneuropathy
  • Headache

Partners with other members of neurology team (e.g., radiologist, EEG technologists, MA’s and RN’s, physical therapists).

  • Prefer candidates have prior experience (at least 2-5 years) in broad spectrum of general neurology.
  • Selected new graduates from residency or fellowship training may be eligible.
  • Prior experience in a small hospital or CAH desired.
  • Must be comfortable with rural nature of practice/hospital, they would be solo coverage, and AVH’s complement of specialists and diagnostic testing capacity.
  • Ability to interpret EEG studies HIGHLY desirable.
  • Ability to perform and interpret NCS/EMG studies.
  • Ability to perform Botox injections highly desirable.
  • Team oriented, collaborative, and patient focused. High level of customer service (patient satisfaction) is expected.
  • EMR: Meditech Expanse
  • Appointment durations would begin at 40-60 minutes to allow for orientation to AVH and its EMR. At an appropriate time (usually 2-4 weeks), appointment durations would be reduced to match standards for AVH neurologists, i.e., 20 minutes for established patients and 60 minutes for new patients.
  • Typical productivity (based on usual mix of new and established patients) will be 12 to 16 patients per day. In general, 2 to 4 new patients per day.
