The Medicus Executive Search is proud to represent the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University (MCG at AU) with its search for a nationally recognized neurologist to serve as Section Chief of Child Neurology. The ideal candidate should have a high level of clinical expertise, providing exceptional care to children, adolescents and families using evidence-based treatments. Experience in the development and administration of clinical, research and/or educational programs is highly desirable.
The new Chief will have a strong record of clinical and academic leadership in child neurology and will support all three missions of the department: clinical, education and research within a fundamental philosophy that we will achieve greater success by working together as a team as opposed to working as individuals. The incumbent will be expected to nurture the existing collaborative and inclusive work culture.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the new Section Chief will include maintaining clinical practice in child neurology, supporting the education of fellows, residents and medical students, providing mentorship to early career faculty, and expanding the research portfolio of the division. The new chief will provide patient care in the outpatient pediatric Neurology clinic, attend inpatient rounds, provide call coverage, and offer oversight and mentorship for adult and pediatric Neurology residents, fellows and medical students on rotation. Engagement in clinical research is strongly encouraged.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding clinical reputation and a proven record as a clinical leader with at least 5 years post residency/fellowship experience and be board certified in Neurology with special qualification in Child Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. They will have an academic background with a focus on building a top reputation clinical program.
A successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
· An MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree; they will have completed a residency in child neurology and will be expected to qualify for appointment at the rank of an Associate Professor or Professor at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
· Exceptional leadership record at a top-ranked medical school, academic health center (preferred) or health system, and, ideally, experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.
· Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to valuing diversity, promoting inclusion by modeling, and fostering diversity and cultural proficiency.
· An entrepreneurial, collaborative, creative and driven spirit.
· A distinguished academic and professional career, including teaching, research, and clinical experience.
· Superior track record in building and/or contributing to collaborative team cultures.
