Neuro-Trauma & Neuro-Spine Neurosurgery Opening in CT
- Located in Hartford, CT
- Full-time, permanent position
Practice and Hospital Highlights:
- **High Volume Practice:** Join one of the busiest neurosurgery programs in New England, completing over 2,000 neurosurgical cases annually.
- **Multidisciplinary Team:** Collaborate with 9 Neurosurgeons, over 20 Neurosurgery Physician Assistants, and a dedicated team of neurocritical care nurses, APPs, and Neurointensivists.
- **Immediate Volume:** The new surgeon will immediately focus on urgent cases, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spine and spinal cord injuries, and complex spine surgeries, with the ability to maintain an elective practice.
- **Leadership Roles:** Serve as the lead for neurosurgery with the trauma team, oversee the Head Injury Program, and act as a surgeon liaison for Neurocritical Care.
Facility and Technological Support:
- **Advanced Facilities:** Hartford Hospital is a Level 1 trauma center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and Joint Commission Advanced Spine Center.
- **State-of-the-Art Technology:** Utilize cutting-edge surgical technology, including Mazor X spine robots, Medtronic O-Arm and Stealth Navigation, Zeiss microscopes, and other ancillary equipment.
- **Dedicated ORs and Units:** Five dedicated Neurosurgery ORs, two neuroscience units, and a 23-bed Neuroscience ICU.
- **Patient Support:** Dedicated Neurosurgery Nurse Navigators to support patients through their care pathway.
Academic and Research Opportunities:
- **Teaching Opportunities:** Participate in the Neurosurgery Residency Program in collaboration with UCONN School of Medicine, and engage in teaching opportunities with existing neurology and general surgery residencies.
- **Research Support:** Collaborate on clinical research projects with support from UCONN's dedicated research department, including access to research coordinators and nurses.
- **Air Ambulance Service:** LIFE STAR air ambulance service transports patients from throughout New England.
Qualifications:
- **Medical Degree:** Must have a Medical Degree from an accredited university.
- **Board Certification:** Neurosurgery board certified or board eligible.
- **Licensure:** Hold a CT license or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut.
