Physician - Neurologist - Tampa, FL

Shift: 8-5 M-F

JOB SUMMARY:

The Physician functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. She/he demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in caring for Neurosurgery patients with acute and chronic neurological illnesses commonly encountered within neurosurgery. He/she is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, care coordination and mediates discharge transitions for patients and families with acute and chronic Neurosurgery health needs. The Physician demonstrates an advanced level of medical clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism and systems-based practice. He/she works with administrative, nursing, and physician to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of medical conditions.
  • Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results.
  • Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and alters the plan of care as needed.
  • Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
  • Counsels and educates patients and families.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice area.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

  • Provides care that is patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness and treatment of disease throughout the lifespan.
  • Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, management of acute and chronic patient/family Neurosurgery health problems.
  • Ability to care for acutely and chronically ill patients and their families who may have a spectrum of Neurosurgical problems.
  • Potential to grow into a leader.
  • Possess the requisite knowledge and clinical skills to provide care to the Young Adult, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
  • Adapt and willing to learn and assist acute care neurosurgery procedures and management.

Education Minimum If Nurse Practitioner:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree
  • 4-year medical school program
  • 6 to 8 additional years of residency program

Work Experience Minimum:

  • Two (2) years of relevant Neurosurgery clinical experience Licenses & Certifications Minimum • Active ME license in State of Florida AND
  • Active board certification.
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP)
