Seeking Medical Director/Primary Nephrologist – Kidney Transplant Program - Northern INDIANA!!
Health Network is seeking a visionary and dynamic Medical Director for its kidney transplant program in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This represents a unique opportunity in a rapidly growing market for the primary physician to work with our newly appointed program director to (re)build a regionally and nationally recognized kidney transplant program.
The Medical Director for the Kidney Transplant Program will be responsible for all aspects of the medical care of ESRD patients referred for transplant and their post-transplant medical care. In close partnership with the Abdominal Transplant Program Director, Transplant Executive Director and Outreach Coordinator, (s)he will spend considerable time building relationships with the nephrology community throughout Indiana and beyond. This position reports to the Abdominal Program Director for both clinical and administrative roles. (S)he will assure compliance with regulations in the evaluation and management of transplant candidates, recipients, and living donors. The Medical Director, in conjunction with the Program Director and Executive Director will be responsible for oversight of program policy, direction, and performance related to pre-transplant and post-transplant management of kidney transplant patients and living donors. Performance hinges on achieving predefined outcomes that track performances and results of the overall program.
The Medical Director will also have to opportunity to participate in or develop his/her research program within their areas of interest that align with programmatic goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Board certified or eligible in nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine
Completion of an AST accredited transplant nephrology fellowship or equivalent training in transplant nephrology
Qualify as “Primary Transplant Physician” under UNOS Bylaws
Qualify for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Indiana
Strong decision-making capabilities
Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Direct inpatient and outpatient clinical care, including pre-transplant candidate evaluations, living donor evaluations, inpatient consultations and post-transplant/donation care and patient management
Administration
Work with the Program Director and Transplant Administrator to assure hospital compliance with OPTN/UNOS, CMS, DOH and other regulatory agency requirements.
