Shift type: 24hrs
  • Orientation business day prior to shift in afternoon
  • Dec 28-31 (ending Jan 1 am) will need to do onboarding the day prior (Dec 27)
  • Round in the NICU at least once per day then cover calls from the nursing staff and come to the hospital based as patient condition requires. NO rounding in nursery - peds hospitalists round in the nursery.
  • Setting: Level III NICU
  • Trauma Level/Designation: - Level II Trauma Center
  • Average worked Callback Hours: 6.5 hours
  • Schedule/Availability Requirements:
  • Orientation business day prior to shift in afternoon
Details:
  • Setting is inpatient
  • Admissions/Patients per day: NICU patient daily census between 7-12
  • EMR: Cerner Care B
  • Support Staff: NICU nurses, Family Practice Residents (which the neonatologist supervises/teaches while they are on Nursery rotation). Laborists and Pediatric Hospitalists. No APP support
  • Requirements:
  • Board Certified or Eligible Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine - Required
  • Active CA License - Required
  • BLS, NRP, DEA - Required during credentialing
  • Clean Malpractice - Required
  • Has had substantial recent experience covering neonatology services (not pediatrics) - Required
  • Procedures required: Ventilatory assistance, to include ETT CPAP, Nasal CPAP for more than 4 hours, NCPAP greater than 6 cm H2O, or FiO2 greater than 0.60, Surfactant administration beyond the initial dose, Administration of cardiac pressors,PaCO2 greater than 50 on two arterial blood gases 1 hour apart, Peripheral arterial line or central line, Chest tube, . Total Parenteral Nutrition Hyperalimentation, Exchange Transfusion,
  • Gestational Age <32 0/7 weeks, and Birth weight <1600 grams.
