Children’s Hospital of Michigan is once again ranked as one of the best hospitals in the country for pediatric care and is home to a multidisciplinary team of pediatric specialists on staff who provide comprehensive pediatric care to improve the health and well-being of children by providing specialized care and expertise for all their unique healthcare need. This highly-respected group is seeking well-trained neonatologists to join our busy practice.
Responsibilities:
During the service blocks, the attending will round in the unit (starting at about 8AM and signing out at 5 PM) and be responsible for clinical care, documentation, procedures, consultation with other specialists, communication with families and staff, teaching and supervision of residents, fellows and neonatal nurse practitioners.
At Children’s Hospital, the attending also receives and responds to calls for transfer in from referral hospitals and services and acts as medical control for the dedicated pediatric and neonatal transport team.
At Hutzel Women’s Hospital, the attending is responsible for attending high-risk deliveries and management decisions on delivery room care.
At both units, attending physicians are responsible for completing inpatient consultations requested by other services such as prenatal consultations, surgical infants and postoperative congenital heart disease.
Attending neonatologists also round in a Level II Special care nursery at Huron Valley Hospital and provide 24-hour on-call coverage here.
Neonatologists lead the outpatient service in the Fetal Assessment Clinic at Hutzel and the Fetal Care Center at Children’s to provide consultations to pregnant women with high-risk fetuses and the Developmental Assessment Clinic to evaluate and coordinate care of the high-risk NICU graduate until 5 years of age.
