Job Description
Daily Responsibilities for a Neonatologist
The Neonatologist is responsible for:
- Evaluating and treating patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
- Adhering, contributing, and developing clinical patient pathways to ensure a standardized approach to neonatal medicine.
- Rounding with a Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on NICU patients, as well as supervising the APP’s attending high risk deliveries.
- Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
- Act as attending consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization, depending on needs of patients, medical staff, and hospital.
- Be the primary educator for the pediatric residents.
- Providing appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
- Participating in inpatient rounds and provide appropriate hand-off to the next team.
- Establishing an outpatient NICU graduate clinic program.
Hours For This Position
- Full Time
Requirements for the Neonatologist
- MD or DO
- Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Neonatology
- Eligible for unrestricted Florida medical license and DEA
- Completed ACGME Training
