Position Highlights

As an Associate Medical Director, you will:

  • Provide Comprehensive Primary Care to a panel of members while leading an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Supervise and Mentor Providers, offering clinical guidance to physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
  • Guide Population Health Strategies, mentoring care teams during population health huddles to achieve quality and utilization goals.
  • Serve as a Clinical Leader, working alongside the Medical Director to provide support and decision-making for clinical staff.
  • Represent Healthcare United to community-based organizations, hospital systems, and payer partners as an advocate for high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Direct Patient Management

  • Deliver comprehensive primary care to a panel of members in a team-based care model.
  • Manage acute exacerbations of chronic conditions onsite or determine when a higher level of care is needed.
  • Provide same-day/next-day urgent care for members post-hospital discharge or at risk of readmission.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
  • Maintain proactive patient tracking to prevent emergency room visits and hospital admissions.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor physicians, APPs, and clinical staff to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Lead population health huddles to track progress toward quality and utilization metrics.
  • Develop clinical protocols and pathways to enhance provider skills and ensure top-of-license practice.
  • Foster partnerships with academic programs and community-based organizations to expand service delivery.

Operational & Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and leadership team to drive market performance toward quality, utilization, and engagement goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and implement innovative treatment strategies.
  • Use electronic health records (EHR) and technology to maximize care efficiency.
  • Support healthcare initiatives aimed at improving access, reducing costs, and enhancing patient outcomes.

Working Conditions

  • Operates in clinical and professional office settings with exposure to patient care environments.
  • Wears protective attire (gloves, masks, lab coats, scrubs) as needed.
  • Frequent travel to other care centers or corporate offices as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate patient information.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while using office and clinical equipment.
  • Frequent use of computers, keyboards, fax machines, and telephones.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of employment.
  • 5+ years of clinical and administrative experience leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working in clinic, community-based, and inpatient settings.
  • Proven mentorship and coaching experience for physicians and APPs.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for population health, healthcare utilization management, and care model innovation.
