Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Director of Advanced Endoscopy/Associate GI Fellowship Program Director to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. The hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. Opportunity Details

Director of Advanced Endoscopy:

  • Work with Director of Gastroenterology to set patient care standard for advanced endoscopy and, establish clinical goals to ensure the strategic implementation of best practices and development of this program
  • Manage performance metrics for advanced endoscopic procedures and report these to the GI and Department of Medicine QA/PI Committees
  • Assume responsibility for training the Gastroenterology fellows to perform ERCP
  • Will perform all Endoscopic Ultrasound procedures and teach the fellows these techniques
  • Will help develop and then supervise and manage the GI Motility Service
  • Will train in and establish Double Balloon Enteroscopy availability at SBH and teach this to the fellows
  • Will need to monitor new GI new techniques and work with the Director of Gastroenterology to plan and bring to SBH emerging capabilities to serve the GI needs of our patients.
  • Participates in medical educational meetings to improve and provide continuous quality care to our patients.
  • Provide direct patient care, including dedicated clinic sessions, OR Block time, and supervision of resident program panels as required by the department Chairperson

Associate Fellowship Program Director:

  • Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with the ACGME Program Requirements pertaining to the Gastroenterology Program, as well as any other program policies and procedures, subspecialty program requirements, etc.
  • Work with the Program Director to develop an educational curriculum as defined in the ACGME Program Requirements for Gastroenterology and the Common Program Requirements
  • Supervise and teach the Board Review for all Gastroenterology fellows.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the administration of all didactic educational activities of the Division of Gastroenterology’s Fellowship Program
  • Schedule all Gastroenterology Grand Rounds to further the curricular goals of the fellowship and attend to the educational needs of the fellows
  • Participate in GME Committee, subcommittees and task forces, including program representation at all GMEC meetings, and Internal Review panels as requested
  • Maintain, together with the Program Director, accurate and complete program files in compliance with institutional records retention policies
  • Ensure that fellows comply with ACGME Resident Surveys
  • Facilitate fellows’ participation in the educational and scholarly activities of the program, and ensure that they assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students
  • Serve as Co-Chair of the Gastroenterology Research Committee
  • Supervise, with the Program Director, all Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance projects and ensure that all such activities include Gastroenterology fellows
  • Ensure fellows’ attendance at educational offerings required by the institution
  • Help the Program Director ensure that the program’s policies regarding evaluation and performance feedback are followed for all residents within the program
  • Assist with clinical scheduling of fellows and monitor residents’ duty hours as required by ACGME regulation

Qualifications

  • Previous relevant experience teaching and supervising trainees in Gastroenterology
  • Board certification in Gastroenterology
