Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Director of Anatomic Pathology to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. The new Health & Wellness Institute offers outpatient services—from primary and preventive care to specialty services for children and adults—all designed to keep our community healthy and accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Opportunity Details

PAGNY is currently seeking a full time Director of Anatomic Pathology

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for direction and operation of the Anatomic Pathology Service
  • Establishment and implementation of written standard operating procedures
  • Manage compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements
  • Assess and manage competency of Anatomic Pathology Staff
  • Supervision of Pathologist Assistant, Cytotechnologists and active one to one teaching of medical students.
  • Serve as Assistant Director of Cytology
  • Maintain a direct clinical workload to include examination of specimens, performance of autopsies, direct communication of results to appropriate medical staff

Qualifications

Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology

  • Must hold valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York
  • Minimum 5 years experience in clinical practice with previous supervisory experience
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and prior experience educating residents, fellows and medical students
