Job Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Director will oversee the health care services in their department; assure quality care, resolution of patient concerns, strive for department profitability, while leading and managing the clinical team. With the support of the Director of Clinical Operations (DCO), they will manage work performance of support staff to include training, staff development, work distribution, performance appraisals, adherence to clinic policies and procedures, work schedule, and praise or disciplinary procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited medical school with a MD or DO degree
  • Current CA state medical license OR NP/PA license
  • Completed an accredited residency program
  • Current DEA certificate
  • 3 years of experience in leadership
  • 5 years of experience as a clinician
  • Board certified in primary care
  • Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care
  • Provide consultation to PA/NP providers
  • Oversee the health care services provided in his/her department
  • Manage the clinical staff of assigned department or programs
  • Ensure that in the absence of a primary care provider that a mechanism is established so that a physician is available to review lab and x-ray reports; prescriptions and follow-up medical care is accomplished
  • Ensures adequate continuity of care through coordinated coverage by medical staff
  • Provides a process for proper supervision of new clinician staff. Monitor the performance of a new provider in the clinic during a set introductory period
  • Represents the interest of the department medical staff to management and management to department medical staff
  • Participate in meetings of the medical provider staff to ensure appropriate information exchange; recommendations and decision-making on issues of clinical significance; recommendations from the provider staff on management issues
  • Ensure compliance with federal laws, regulations and standards of practice, including OSHA, CLIA, patient care, employee health and coding and billing
  • Participate as part of centers’ management team
  • Comply with center’s policies and procedures
  • Conduct staff meetings as appropriate
