Seeking a BC/BE Internal or Family Medicine Physician to serve as Assistant Medical Director of our Hospital Medicine team in Hartford, CT.


Position Highlights:
  • The Assistant Director (AD) will act as a member of the leadership team joining the Practice Manager, Director and other ADs and administrative staff in the day-to-day management including clinical operations of the division, colleague support and providing quality patient care (both directly and indirectly).
  • Under the direction of the Chief of Hospital Medicine, works closely with physicians and nurses and other clinical manager to deliver timely, safe, effective, high quality patient care while ensuring the department meets hospital regulatory and key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for managing provider staff, achieving department quality and fiscal targets, patient care, discharge and recommendations for follow-up with providers as required.
  • Displays, upholds and leads the behaviors, values and compliance with policies and procedures throughout all work.
  • EMR experience preferred with EPIC

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for participating in Administrator on Call rotation being the point person from a clinical and administrative standpoint for providers and hospital administration
  • Reviewing cases from clinical care management and quality standpoint, reviewing pertinent riskonnects and promoting safe, quality care delivery
  • Supporting provider staff with challenging patient cases
  • Working with patient advocate to facilitate patient concern issues, assisting with grievances
  • Meeting with provider staff as needed to provide performance feedback
  • Participate in divisional HR related issues
  • Attending divisional meetings related to operations, scheduling, staffing
  • Participate in running morning huddles
  • Attending unit progression rounds and supporting unit lead model
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing and onboarding of new staff
  • Divisional focus based on individual and divisional need
  • Mentorship of new hires and support of growth/leadership opportunities within division
  • Participate in meetings external to the division including but not limited to: Departmental meetings such as medicine cabinet, hospitalist council, workgroup directly affecting hospitalist workflow
  • Guides staff in the adherence to applicable standards of care/practice and/or departmental/organizational expectations
  • Upholds leadership behaviors and expectations at all times
  • Establishes, evaluates, and monitors care processes, policies, and procedures to ensure that appropriate Hospital resource utilization is achieved
  • Clinical responsibilities both directly and indirectly through precepting with advance practice providers and seeing patient clinically at bedside
