Schedule

• 12 hour day shift with 12 hour night on call shift: 7am-7pm
• Hospitalist is expected to be onsite 7:30am-5pm, On call phone calls 0-5, H&Ps can be completed the following morning

Clinical Details

• 12 bed, Open ICU
• Day Shift: avg census of 16 and 5 admits per shift
• Hospitalist start out with rounding in the ICU, seeing overnight admits and then rounding at the med-surg unit collaborating with the hospital nursing staff and case management
• Night Call:
  • Average 2-3 Admissions, any quick response needed, the ED physician on duty will handle
• Hospitalist is responsible for running codes and responds with Rapid Response Team
• Responsible for APP supervision when an APP is called in for high census
• Solo coverage, support is available from ED physician, anesthesia team and respiratory team (7a-7p) if needed
• ED will cover any codes
• Very rare for physician to return, would depend on availability of ED physician and acuity of patient
• Beds: verbal cap of 25-26, absolute cap of 28-30 admissions; If the ICU is full, the cap is 25-26; At cap, physician can refuse admissions

Requirements

• Active AL License
• Board Certified ABIM
• BLS, ACLS
• Must have 2 years hospitalist experience
• Required Procedures: Arterial Lines, Central Lines, Intubations, Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, Vent Management
