Job Description
An inpatient mental health center is seeking a full-time physician specializing in Internal or Family Medicine for an onsite role. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The provider will collaborate with three onsite Family Nurse Practitioners (F-NPs) and will be responsible for treating a caseload of 70-80 patients, including admissions (5-7 per week). The role may include coverage for 2-3 units and involves performing initial physical exams, completing histories and physicals (H&P), addressing chronic medical concerns, reconciling medications, and ordering and interpreting labs as needed. The physician will serve as a member of the medical committee and participate in mandatory training.

Job Duties

• Provide treatment to patients on the pavilion
• Conduct initial physical exams (H&P) and make diagnoses
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Order and interpret lab tests
• Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness
• Provide clinical direction to staff involved in direct care
• Recommend treatment for complex clinical cases
• Serve as officer of the day, available for emergency consultation
• Participate in medical committee, pavilion, and program meetings
• Serve as backup coverage for other pavilions as needed

Qualifications / Requirements

• Current unrestricted Illinois License
• Board Certified/Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine
• Current Illinois Controlled Substance certificate
• Current unrestricted DEA certificate
• Mantoux skin test (or proof of a negative test within 90 days)
• Clearance of required fingerprints and drug screen
