Our practice is seeking a PGY-4 Chief Residents for our GME Internal and Academic Medicine clinic in Christiansburg. We are seeking candidates with a broad knowledge base, a desire for medical education, excellent presentation skills, and dedication to a collaborative environment. The PGY-4 Chief Resident position is a one-year experience that offers a unique blend of education, patient care, and administration while providing opportunities for developing and enhancing clinical, teaching, and administrative skills, leadership ability, and personal growth.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising residents in the outpatient clinic setting
- Teaching residents in a formal didactic setting
- Assisting program leadership with day-to-day administrative duties
- Direct patient care duties including precepting residents and medical students in the clinic as well as supervision of residents.
- Assisting the Program Director with administrative duties, as well as participation in academic didactic sessions.
- Opportunity to develop his/her clinical and personal leadership style, and gain skills involved in administration, management, and communication.
- Provide patient care for patients in the academic medicine clinic
- Residents must abide by all of the basic standards for residency training in Internal Medicine provided by the ACGME.
- Completion of an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Board eligible for the ABIM
