Centurion is proud to be the NEW provider of comprehensive healthcare services to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. We are currently seeking a full-time Staff Physician to provide clinical services to the Maryland pre-trial population in the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Job Responsibilities
Review and sign off on completed lab orders and ensure appropriate.
Provide oversight to disease management/chronic care clinic and OTP process.
Complete evaluations of the inmate and the completion of the associated paperwork that may be
necessary for the offender to be eligible for private medical coverage upon release.
Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care efforts for chronically ill inmates.
Coordinate and facilitate the admission, placement, and discharge of patients from medical
infirmary.
Review and provide follow-up for patients requiring specialty medical care.
Evaluate medical necessity with regard to off-site resource utilization.
Provide diagnoses in the format required by the DOC.
Participate in the development and monitoring of site-specific medical policies and procedures.
Fulfill on-call responsibilities, as scheduled.
Participate in on-site in-service training on physical health related topics.
Acquire and maintain current clinical knowledge and skills and professional standards.
Identify and maintain professional boundaries to preserve the integrity of the therapeutic process
and relationship.
Proactive in performance improvement activities as demonstrated by participating in the
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program (peer review; record reviews; membership on the
CQI committee as requested) and modifying clinical practices based on CQI recommendations.
Ensure compliance with all facility and Company policies, Federal and State laws, regulations, and
guidelines.
Coordinate care closely with security staff while maintaining a positive, collaborative relationship.
Maintain an ethical commitment to ensure confidentiality within the limits of a correctional
environment.
Deliver care in a nonjudgmental/nondiscriminatory manner.
Understand and comply with safety and security rules and regulations of the institution.

Qualifications
required.
Current license to practice medicine in state of practice.
Must have and maintain an active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate.
Current tuberculosis documentation; must be appropriately certified in first aid, Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS), and automated external defibrillator (AED)
use.
Must receive approval of Credentialing Review Committee if review requested.
Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where
applicable.
Minimum of two years of experience practicing as physician in a correctional setting is preferred.
