Primary Care Physician – Fayetteville, NC

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Location: Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Care Physician to join our team in Fayetteville, NC. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive medical care to our patients, including diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions. They will have a strong understanding of medical ethics, human anatomy, pharmacology, and other related specialties. This role involves a high level of direct patient care, preventive care, and the development of healthy habits among patients.

Job Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care: (95% of the time)

Provide clinic appointments and follow-up on labs, imaging, and procedures.
Conduct phone call consultations with hospitalists and intensivists regarding inpatients.
Review cases with nurse practitioners.

Scope of Care:

Offer Family Practice and interventional Family Practice consultative services.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, health history evaluations, physical examinations, and patient education.
Manage both scheduled and unscheduled outpatient Veterans.
Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, recommend treatments, and refer patients as necessary.
Record and document health appraisal information, clinical assessments, treatment plans, ongoing management, and therapeutic outcomes.
Utilize the electronic comprehensive patient record system (CPRS) for documentation.

Clinic Responsibilities:

Be present and punctual for clinic start times.
Ensure mechanisms are in place to provide notification of test results in accordance with VHA Directive 1088.
Follow established medication policies and procedures (no sample medications provided to patients).
Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions for emergency department patients.

Administrative Duties: (5% of the time)

Participate in section meetings, peer review case reviews, Ongoing Providers Performance Evaluation (OPPE), and morbidity & mortality conferences.
Engage in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings as required.
Attend staff meetings and report any conflicts to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
Complete appropriate Quality Management/Quality Improvement documentation for all procedures and outcomes.
Follow patient safety and infection control standards, prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injuries, and report incidents in the VA Patient Safety Reporting System.
Complete Compliance Awareness Training and report any fraud, waste, or abuse witnessed on VA premises.

Quality Management/Quality Assurance Surveillance:

Subject to Quality Management measures such as patient satisfaction surveys, timely completion of medical records, and Peer Reviews.
Contractor performance will be monitored using the standards outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP).

Patient Complaints:

The Contracting Officer (CO) will resolve complaints concerning Contractor relations with Government employees or patients. The CO has the final authority on validating complaints. The Government reserves the right to refuse the services of personnel involved in validated patient complaints or incidents of physical or verbal misconduct.

Qualifications

Medical degree from an accredited institution.
Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
Valid state medical license.
Experience with electronic health record systems, particularly CPRS, is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to patient safety and quality care.

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
