We are seeking a Licensed Mental Health Professional or Licensed Mental Health Professional Eligible to join our co-responder crisis team in Lynchburg, VA. In this role, you will work alongside the City of Lynchburg police to assess individuals in mental health crisis and develop collaborative treatment plans.

Compensation: $46,349 - $82,316, Sign-on Bonus $5,000. Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess individuals experiencing mental health crises and implement collaborative treatment plans.
  • Work with the City of Lynchburg police as part of a co-responder crisis team to prevent psychiatric hospitalization and criminal justice involvement.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care.
  • Manage multi-needs clients, addressing both mental illness and chemical dependency.
  • Collaborate effectively with police, judges, and medical staff.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Utilize knowledge of community resources and mental health principles.
  • Perform effectively under stress and time constraints.

Requirements:

  • 60-hour Master’s degree in human services field
  • Registered with Virginia Board of Counseling
  • One year experience with relevant population (Preferred: 1-2 years crisis response)
