Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) is seeking an Internal Medicine Physician for a full-time position as an academic internist with potential to be considered as a core member of the Internal Medicine Faculty.

The CAMC Internal Medicine Residency is an established ACGME-approved program in good standing. Our program has a complement of 40 Internal Medicine residents and 10 Internal Medicine/Psychiatry residents with exceptional committed faculty and program leadership.

CAMC is a 958-bed academic medical center with four hospitals and more than 700 physicians on staff. With a workforce of more than 7,000 employees, CAMC is southern West Virginia’s top health care provider. Serving a primary and secondary service area of 12 counties with a population of over 560,000, CAMC services approximately 31% of the total population of West Virginia. CAMC is home to one of the highest volume heart programs in the nation. The institution also houses the state’s premier and largest volume cancer treatment center, kidney transplant center, a Level I trauma center, the region’s largest Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Level I pediatric intensive care unit, and the only freestanding children’s hospital in Southern West Virginia.

Under the auspices of the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine, CAMC is a growing academic medical center sponsoring 16 accredited medical residencies and fellowship programs; 3 pharmacy residency programs; a doctoral clinical psychology internship and a doctoral level School of Nurse Anesthesia. Our strategic plan includes expansion of GME programs in a number of disciplines over the next five years as well as a growing portfolio of research programs and initiatives. CAMC is home to two regional medical school campuses hosting 150 full-time medical students on site. Annually over 1500 learners receive clinical training experiences at CAMC. A new Center for Learning and Research will house a 14,000 square foot simulation center and other facilities dedicated to our education and research programs. CAMC’s human protection research program achieved accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRP), which recognizes institutional “commitment and scientifically and ethically sound research and to continuous improvement.”
