You will serve the Department of Internal Medicine as a practicing primary care physician in internal medicine. Provide excellent medical care to inpatients and outpatients, emphasizing current methods and a humane, scholarly approach to diagnosis and treatment. You will spend approximately 25% teaching and 75% in clinics and hospital services and provide nursing home coverage at two or more nursing homes. Participate in Graduate Medical Education; teach inpatient and ambulatory specialty and subspecialty medicine; teach procedures; mentor residents and offer experience and skill as a teacher, meaning the ability to transmit knowledge and to foster independence and critical thinking; interview residency candidates and assist in their selection; attend Medical Grand Rounds, CPCs, M&M conference, and departmental meetings; contribute to committees; and provide a teaching presence by overseeing resident physicians and strengthening positive physician behavior, patient care, communication, record-keeping, inquiry, and the scientific approach to clinical medicine. Interact in morning report on a frequent basis and perform research as determined by experience and as designated, including research pursuant to grants.
