People First in Tucson

Local Team Collaboration:

  • We take pride in our team of intensivist physicians and ICU acute care advanced practice providers (APPs) at Northwest Medical Center.
  • Northwest Medical Center is a 300-bed primary stroke center and teaching hospital. We provide care in a 20-bed MICU (closed unit) and are consultants to the CVICU. During the day we have 1 MD & 1 NP/PA in the MICU and the nights are covered by an in-house NP/PA along with Tele-ICU Physician support.

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO). Must be internal medicine residency trained.
  • Ability to obtain an Arizona license.
  • A commitment to excellence in clinical service, with strong problem-solving abilities essential for the ICU setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate proficiency in all technical skills required in critical care.
Practice in the Heart of the Community

Scheduling:

  • Full-time physicians work an average of 15 day shifts per month (no nights).
  • 7 on / 7 off schedule
  • We collaborate to manage the schedule as equitably as possible, ensuring intensivists achieve an outstanding work/family life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in the ICU, working within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest level of patient care. The ICU operates as a closed unit.
  • We are a teaching hospital with an Internal Medicine residency program. Intensivists at Northwest must be residency trained in Internal Medicine
  • We will utilize Cerner and our internal informatics platform for streamlined communication and patient data management, contributing to an organized and collaborative care environment.

Living and Working in Tucson

  • With 350 days of annual sunshine and an average temperature on 83’, Tucson offers access to outstanding hiking and outdoor activities year-round. There are few places you can be sitting by your pool in January and drive an hour to Mount Lemmon to go skiing. We have three high schools that were listed in the “Top 50 High Schools in the USA” by U.S. News & World Report. As a city with over 1 million residents in the greater area, we have amenities found in every metropolis, minus the crowds and traffic. Home prices in Tucson are still relatively affordable compared to other metropolises in the Western USA (homes in Tucson are about 20% less expensive than Phoenix).
