Job Description

Last Update: 9/20/24

To our prospective teammates,

I’m the regional medical director for Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. I have been a part of Sound Medical Group for ten years and welcome interest from physician leaders desiring a career change to explore an opportunity with our group. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People
  • We are a team of two physicians and two advanced practice providers (APPs).
  • Our team will be involved with numerous work groups, including practice guidelines, code blue committee, and ICU celebration of life committee. There are also opportunities to participate in the internal medicine residency program.
  • Tucson offers the small-town charm within a larger city environment. We take pride in our mild winters, sunshine, and Southwestern culture. Year-round outdoor activities abound, including golf, mountain biking, and hiking. Tucson is an excellent place to start or continue your practice, raise a family, and truly enjoy all the dining and cultural experiences Tucson has to offer.
Practice
  • Northwest Medical Center is a 300-bed primary stroke center and teaching hospital. We provide care in a ten-bed MICU (closed unit) and are consultants to the CVICU. During the day, we have one MD in the MICU, and the nights are covered by an in-house NP/PA and Tele-ICU Physician support.
  • We are a teaching hospital with an internal medicine residency program. Intensivists at Northwest must be residency trained in internal medicine.
  • We are looking for an experienced, board-certified critical care physician with at least 5years of experience leading a team of intensivists.
  • The expected annual compensation range is $468k-$566k. We offer commencement bonus and relocation as well.
  • Benefits include paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, CME allowance, health insurance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
