Job Summary
Job Description
To our prospective teammates,
I’m the medical director for St Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, CA. I have been a part of Sound Medical Group for eight years. I’m proud of the critical care practice we’ve built and welcome interest from practicing critical care physicians looking for part-time or per diem work. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:
People
- We are a closely-knit, established team of 3.5 physicians.
- Our team is involved with numerous work groups including practice guidelines, code blue committee, and ICU celebration of life committee. In addition to being ICU Director, I also serve as Director of the Palliative Care service.
- Our location is atop Nob Hill in downtown San Francisco.
Practice
- St Francis Memorial is a non-profit community hospital in downtown San Francisco. We have an 18-bed ICU that is primarily medical and surgical. Intensivists are also a consulting service for the burn ICU. The Bothin Burn Center is the largest dedicated burn unit in Northern California.
- We have one Intensivist in ICU from 8a-8p and take night call from home. Overnight, Hospitalists cover the ICU, and the ER team is available for intubations. We will get phone calls but rarely come back to the unit overnight. In the last year, we have had four instances where the intensivist comes in overnight.
- This is a low-acuity ICU with a census of 4-8 patients per shift.
- Cerner EMR
- Compensation: $3,150 per shift
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
