Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our close-knit, well-established team of five physicians and two acute care advanced practice providers (APPs) at Northwest Community Hospital.
  • Work alongside a dedicated multi-disciplinary team within the unit to collaboratively provide exceptional care for patients.

Qualifications:

  • We are seeking board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO) who possess or can obtain an Illinois license, commit to excellence in clinical service, are forward-thinking and demonstrate problem-solving abilities necessary in the ICU, and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and perform all technical skills in the critical care setting.

Practice in the Heart of the Community

Flexible Scheduling:

  • Full-time physicians work an average of 15 monthly shifts, with a block shift schedule, generally in 4-5 day stretches.
  • Physicians work 12-hour day shifts in collaboration with APP, who works a 10-hour shift. An onsite physician covers nights and 12-hour shifts.
  • Part-time and per diem (PRN) physicians are scheduled as needed and available.
  • We work together to manage the schedule as equitably as possible, providing intensivists with an outstanding work/family life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert care for medical, surgical, and neuro-critical care patients in a 36-bed ICU with 24/7 onsite coverage.
  • Collaborate in a co-managed ICU model alongside multidisciplinary teams, fostering seamless patient care.
  • Utilize EPIC and our internal informatics platform to ensure efficient documentation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Contribute to high-quality critical care at Northwest Community Hospital, a 496-bed community hospital and designated Stroke Center.
