ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides patients with infectious disease specialty care services in addition to general primary care in HIV patients and in others when required.

  • Development/updating of clinical guidelines for HIV, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, PrEP, non- occupational PEP and occupational PEP and other infectious diseases.

  • Managing and treating common health problems, including infections, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses and disorders, with a focus on infectious diseases.

  • Prescribing or administering medication, therapy, vaccines etc. to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.

  • Collecting, recording, analyzing, and maintaining patient information, including medical histories, reports, and examination results.

  • Explaining procedures and discussing test results or prescribed treatments with patients.

  • Monitoring patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluating treatments as necessary.

  • Provide expert consult and assistance to providers across other service lines when needed.

  • Provide expertise and support during infectious diseases outbreaks.

  • Report certain diseases and collaborate with other public health organizations.

  • Provide supervision of mid-level providers and mentor students.

  • Provide knowledge, basic techniques, and patient recruitment for research projects if available.

  • Assist in performing data analyses, interpretation, and publishing of any research projects.

  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FQHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Training Requirements

  • MD, DO with completion of Infectious Disease Fellowship
  • Active DEA
  • Medical Doctor with current licensure
  • BLS
  • Proficient with EMR (preferably with EPIC)
