Our client, an independent teaching hospital at the forefront of innovative medicine, is hiring an OBGYN Hospitalist (Laborist). The OB/GYN Hospitalist (Laborist) will have clinical, educational, and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
- Schedule: 14 12-hour clinical shifts per month and 12 hours cumulative of administrative / education/ research per month. Weekend and holiday coverage is required.
- Provide clinical care at the highest level to patients in accordance with hospital and evidence-based care guidelines.
- Promote a culture of patient safety.
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Management of patients in labor and delivery, including unassigned patients and those of other providers and services as requested.
- Evaluation and management of patients in triage for both obstetrics and gynecology.
- Participation in Emergency Response Teams and Codes, for example, rapid response, adult codes, obstetrical emergencies, massive transfusion protocols, and unexpected emergencies on L&D, antepartum unit, postpartum unit and other areas of the hospital.
- Appropriate documentation of all patient care in the medical record.
- Collaborative management with an active Midwifery Service.
- Front line for safety in Labor and Delivery, including surveillance of fetal heart rate monitoring and labor progress of all patients.
- Daily rounding on antepartum and postpartum patients.
- Coverage of Antepartum MFM service patients after hours when acute assessment is indicated.
- Participation and leading of L&D triage and labor board rounds and huddles.
- Leadership role with Charge Nurse and Chief Resident in oversight of patient flow and throughput, including escalation for patient volume, acuity or any other safety concerns on the unit.
- Provide surgical assistance when needed.
- Perform or assist with emergent gynecologic surgery for cases such as ectopic. pregnancies or incomplete abortion curettage as needed with gynecology attending
- Evaluation and management of all Obstetrical and Gynecological transfer patients.
- Coverage of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) service patients after hours when requested or acute assessment is indicated.
- Participation in Quality Initiatives within the hospital.
- Participate in simulation and other multidisciplinary team training initiatives.
- Participate in the clinical education of all learners in the department including residents, fellows, medical students, midwifery and physician assistant students, nursing students, allied health care workers, and others.
- Medical Degree
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Eligible to obtain a New York Medical License and DEA License
