**Nocturnist Position** - **Location:** Annapolis, MD - Full-time, permanent position **Position Overview:** The Nocturnist will provide direct patient care for hospitalized individuals, focusing on night-shift responsibilities. This role encompasses admissions, daily rounding, discharges, and consultative services. The Nocturnist ensures high-quality, evidence-based medical care in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Patient Care:** - Manage admissions, consultations, daily rounds, and discharges of hospitalized patients. - Provide thorough medical evaluations, treatment plans, diagnostics, and discharge planning. - Incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical decision-making. - Engage in multidisciplinary patient care and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. - **Communication & Supervision:** - Facilitate clear communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams. - Supervise physician assistants and nurse practitioners. - **Documentation & Compliance:** - Complete medical records, orders, and documentation accurately and promptly. - Ensure compliance with medical staff, licensure, and accreditation requirements. - **Hospital Initiatives:** - Participate in hospital quality initiatives and process improvement projects. - Optimize resource utilization to reduce hospital stays and costs compared to non-hospitalist peers. - **Professional Development:** - Attend educational conferences and meetings to maintain licensure and CME credits. - Perform duties in alignment with Maryland regulations, BPQA, AMA, HCFA, and AAHS policies. **Minimum Qualifications:** - **Licensure:** - Licensed to practice medicine in Maryland. - DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances) certifications. - **Board Certification:** - Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or a comparable adult medical specialty. - **Hospital Membership:** - Fulfillment of medical staff membership requirements at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
