Lourdes Hospital seeks a BE/BC Neurohospitalist to join the regional leader. Mercy Health Physicians Kentucky is the largest multi-specialty medical group in the region. The group is physician led. This growing practice seeks a new partner to join four neurologists, two neurosurgeon, and three advanced practice providers. The practice includes sleep medicine, epilepsy monitoring units, and rehab department.

Highlights
- On-site hospital and emergency department coverage for consults and management of neurology patients by the physician
- Respond to routine inpatient consult requests within 24 hours of being placed and to stat and or Intensive Care Unit consults within 1 hour. Provide telephonic, internet, and telehealth consultative services to the Hospital’s physicians and care coordination staff concerning the general care and treatment of Hospital’s neurology patients as requested and/or rounding on and providing care to the Hospital’s patients as it relates to those admitted to the rehabilitation floor. Will be in house and onsite 12 hours per day while on duty.
- Daily in person rounding and management of patients on the neurology consult list or service, and rehabilitation unit and service. Also attending multidisciplinary patient rounds as applicable and as requested from time to time.
- Accept appropriate patient referrals and/or transfers and coordinating all aspects of care including appropriate placement and effective utilization of resources.
- Provide code stroke coverage and management. Including being immediately accessible and available by remote and telehealth electronic means to provide assessment, care, and recommendations for acute code stroke patients in the ED and within the hospital.
- Provide requested procedural support, as needed, and complete and sign notes and required medical documentation, including accurate medical record documentation in accordance with Hospital and Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies.
- Assist with the arrangement of follow-up outpatient care for those neurology patients with need for follow up.
- Coordinate discharge planning needs with the neurology patient, patient's family, the case manager/discharge planner, and, as applicable, the patient’s primary care physician and / or primary hospital admitting team.
- Develop practice and clinical service protocols regarding the general and critical care management of neurology patients in collaboration with the Hospital and its medical staff and other neurologists. Continually collaborate with the hospital and neurology team and other neurologists in discussing recommendations for service-line program improvements within the hospital and as future neurology treatments and standards and guidelines are developed nationally.
- Perform other consultative, administrative, and professional services in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, the requirements, standards, and recommendations of The Joint Commission and American Academy of Neurology, the bylaws, policies, and procedures of Hospital, and the bylaws, rules and regulations of Hospital’s Medical Staff.
