Job Summary
Job Description
To our prospective teammates,
I’m the medical director for Rockville General located in Vernon, Connecticut, just 20 minutes outside of Hartford. I’m proud of the hospital medicine practice we’ve built and welcome interest from physicians coming out of training or looking to make a career change. I’d like to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:
People
- We’re a small talented team of two physicians, who collaborate with other hospital staff and departments to bring the best possible quality of care to our patients.
- Rockville General is part of Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) along with Manchester Memorial Hospital.
- We are fortunate to have the strong presence of a site coordinator who helps to provide the team with a good work life balance.
- Our clinical performance nurse assists you in the process of providing a high patient care experience.
- Vernon is a vibrant, diverse community that is home to Trinity College, one of the nation’s oldest institutions of higher learning. Strategically located between New York and Boston as well as being just a stone’s throw away from the Connecticut and Rhode Island shoreline.
Practice
- The hospital has 100 beds. There is no medical unit or ICU. We’re looking for a board-certified/eligible physician with hospitalist experience/training. Internal and family medicine physicians are welcome to apply.
- At Rockville, we perform Geri psych H&Ps, psych consults and ED admissions that are transferred over to Manchester Memorial.
- Our hospitalist team is part of the rapid response team and run codes on patients that are not in the ED. We’re all certified in basic life support and advanced cardiovascular life support.
- You will be the only hospitalist on site, but the support of the hospitalist team at Manchester Memorial is just a phone call away.
- This position is days only (there is a tele – physician overnight) and our schedule is week on/week off. No call.
- We work in Meditech (with Dragon), with access to our own internal informatics platform.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance. You have the ability to secure your future with our Path to partnership track.
- Our retention rate is good, and we work collaboratively within our two teams to ensure coverage for time off.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- I came to Sound Physicians for career growth and because of their reputation for their commitment to quality and lean methods of practice.
- We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
