To prospective teammates,

I’m the System Medical Director for Valley Health and Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in beautiful Woodstock, Virginia. I have proudly been a part of Sound for four years, and I am excited to warmly welcome physicians coming out of training or desiring a career change. Let me share more about our people, practice, and purpose as you consider your options:

People
  • We are a tight-knit, established team of four physicians, with the support of a clinical performance nurse. Our group consists of two-day and two-night physicians who care about and focus on quality patient-centered care. We focus on a team environment focused on patient care.
  • Our group consists of providers who have been practicing with us for over ten years and others who will look forward to celebrating their second year with us.
  • In this hospital and community, you have a close-knit group of people who genuinely love working with each other, which shows. With this underserved community, you can make a real difference in improving health care and the systems for patient care.
  • Our hospital partners have a fantastic level of collaboration that encourages you to participate substantially in committees. It is an environment of inclusion that helps make decisions for the well-being of patients and is part of hospital policy.
  • There is ample outdoor fun in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Come kayak in the local rivers and lakes or hike in the gorgeous Shenandoah National Park. Within one hour, skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are available at Massanutten Resort. We are also a reasonable drive to Northern Virginia and Washington, DC.
  • We proudly sponsor H1B and J1 visa candidates, and Sound has excellent in-house visa specialists and our licensing and credentialing experts. All required filing fees for the visa are paid, and services are covered by Sound.
Practice
  • We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in a critical access hospital with a united group of providers. There is an open four-bed critical care step-down unit. Procedures are not required but can be performed. Working closely with our system and consultants, we regularly enjoy the challenge of complex cases.
  • We convene monthly for team meetings where we have close ties and communication with hospital administration.
  • We prefer family and outdoor time, so a flexible schedule allows us to cover for each other when needed.
  • We offer competitive compensation, which includes a stipend for medical director duties.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
