Job Summary
Job Description
To prospective teammates,
As the medical director for Sound’s hospital medicine program at The Hospitals of Providence East Campus in El Paso, TX, I have been a team member for four years. I’m thrilled to share more about our exceptional hospitalist practice with physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) coming from training or desiring a career change. Allow me to provide some insight into our remarkable people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:
People
- We are an established, closely-knit team of seven physicians and five advanced practice providers, with the support of a clinical performance nurse.
- Our team consists of providers with a wealth of knowledge in internal medicine practice. Many of our providers have attended local programs during residency and greatly understand the needs of the community of El Paso. Our providers who have attended other residency programs around the country have given our team perspectives and fresh outlook on managing our patients better to help improve outcomes in our community.
- We enjoy engaging with our hospital partners in various committees such as trauma, cardiology, sepsis, code blue, patient experience, and hospital throughput, to name a few, to provide quality outcomes for our patients together. Our hospital partners are an integral part of our team, and we enjoy regularly collaborating together.
- As a team, we value each member as a part of our extended family. We enjoy spending time together outside work, whether sharing meals or engaging in friendly, competitive activities like bowling or pool nights.
Practice
- We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in a semi-open ICU with intensivist coverage during the day and E-ICU coverage at night. Our team is not expected to do procedures, but we play a key role in the code blue team.
- For those who like to teach, we work with medical students, APPs, and residents from Sierra East Campus is part of Burrell College of Medicine and University of Texas at El Paso programs.
- The team convenes monthly for team meetings to discuss important topics and provide educational opportunities that aid in growing the quality of care we provide.
- Recognizing the importance of family and spending time outdoors, we offer a flexible schedule. We’re always there to support each other when covering shifts.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and encourage contributions within and outside the hospital to make our local community thrive.
